Jelly Wall Guide: Every Shape, Flip Walls, Mystery Walls and Candies
In Jelly Wall you play a wobbly green jelly hopping down a candy-colored track. Walls rush toward you, each with a hole cut in a particular silhouette: tall and thin, low and wide, round, leaning to one side, or shaped like a star. Squish yourself into the matching shape before the wall arrives and you pop straight through. Get it wrong and you splat against the wall.
It looks like a pure reflex game, but the later levels are really about reading. Walls that change shape, walls that hide their hole and candies that tempt you into the wrong shape all reward players who look ahead and stay calm.
Controls: one gesture per shape
| Gesture | Jelly shape |
|---|---|
| Swipe up | Tall and thin |
| Swipe down | Wide and flat |
| Tap | Round ball |
| Swipe left | Lean left |
| Swipe right | Lean right |
| Press and hold | Star (from level 11) |
A swipe only needs to be short. Hold means keeping your finger still on the screen for a moment until the jelly changes.
The rules
What matters is the shape you're in at the instant the wall reaches you. If it matches the hole, you pass. If not, the jelly splats and the level ends, showing how many walls you got through. The row of dots at the top of the screen has one dot per wall, so you always know how far there is to go. Clear every wall to win.
One detail is easy to miss: a moment after you pass through a wall, the jelly relaxes back to its normal round-ish shape. You can't stay tall for two tall walls in a row. Every wall needs its own gesture.
Candies float along the track as an optional goal. You collect one only if the jelly is in the right shape when the candy reaches it. The candy's position tells you which shape: high in the middle needs tall, low at the side needs wide, and high on the left or right needs a lean. The counter on the right of the screen tracks them.
A cleared level earns up to three stars: one for finishing, one for grabbing every candy, and one for finishing without a splat.
The hint button marks the next three walls with a big gesture prompt and slows time as each one approaches if you haven't changed shape yet. There's also a skip button.
Beginner strategy
- Change early, not at the last moment. As soon as you can see the next hole clearly, make the gesture. Your shape stays until you pass, so there's no benefit to waiting.
- Watch the prompts on early levels. In levels 1 to 10, an icon in the middle of the screen shows the gesture the next wall needs. On the first two levels the game even pauses before a wall until you get it right. In levels 3 to 10 it slows down instead.
- Learn the shapes as pictures. After a few levels you should recognize a lean-left hole without thinking, the same way you recognize a letter. That's what lets you keep up when the prompts disappear.
- Swipe clearly. A diagonal swipe is read as whichever direction is stronger, so make vertical and horizontal swipes distinct.
Advanced techniques
Flip walls
A wall with a spinning badge in its corner is going to flip. It shows a decoy hole at first, then switches to its real shape as it gets close. Early levels display WAIT FOR THE FLIP… while that's happening. Don't commit to the first hole you see. Watch for the flash and the "FLIP!" message, then make your gesture. From level 14, some walls flip twice, so wait for the second flip.
Mystery walls
A wall covered in frosting with a big question mark hides its hole until it is fairly close. There's nothing to do but be ready. Keep your thumb resting near the middle of the screen so any gesture is a short move. From level 17, late-reveal walls uncover even closer to you, so react the instant the cover lifts.
Detour candies
Some candies sit halfway between two walls in a shape that does not match the next wall. Collecting one is a deliberate risk: change into the candy's shape, grab it, then switch to the wall's shape before it arrives. The trick is to make the second gesture right after the candy is collected rather than admiring it. If a wall is coming fast, skip the candy. A splat costs more than a star.
Matching candies
Other candies sit just in front of a wall in that wall's own shape. They reward changing early: if you are already in shape, you get the candy for free.
Quick pairs
Some walls arrive back to back with half the usual gap. Because the jelly relaxes after each pass, you need two quick gestures in a row. Read both holes before the first wall reaches you.
Common mistakes
- Assuming you'll stay in shape. The relax-after-passing rule catches out players who see two identical walls in a row.
- Reacting to a flip wall's decoy. Changing into the first shape you see on a flip wall is a wasted gesture at best.
- Chasing every candy. Detour candies are optional. Finish the level first, then come back for three stars.
- Last-second swipes. If you see "SO CLOSE!" after a splat, you had the right idea but moved too late.
What changes in later levels
Each early level introduces one idea, named in a banner when the level starts: tall and wide holes in level 1, the ball in level 2, leans in level 3, candies in level 4, detour candies in level 5, quick pairs in level 6, flip walls in level 7, mystery walls in level 9 and the star shape in level 11. Level 10 combines most of them.
From level 11 the gesture prompts are gone, so you read every hole yourself. Later levels pick a theme such as Flip Frenzy, Foggy Run or Double Trouble, then add extras on top. Walls come closer together, and levels get longer. Every tenth level after level 10 is a BOSS RUN with extra walls and a faster pace, and the level after a boss is shorter and gentler.
FAQ
Can I change shape more than once before a wall?
Yes. Only the shape you're in when the wall arrives counts, so you can correct a wrong gesture if there's time.
Do I need the candies to win?
No. Candies only affect your star rating.
Why didn't my hold work?
Hold is only active from level 11, and your finger must stay still. If it moves, the game reads a swipe instead.
